It was developed specifically for customers seeking a powerful design, dynamic performance, and an intelligent and intuitive driving experience.

The N4’s Balanced Design

The N4 is designed to achieve the perfect balance between performance and elegance, clearly reflected in its new light signature that combines bold expression with high technology. It also features advanced electrification technologies, intelligent connectivity, and an exceptional level of comfort. Xavier Boujot, CEO of DS Automobiles, stated: “The N4 is the true essence of DS Automobiles’ identity: elegance and, above all, the boundless ambition to lead in engineering excellence.”

A spirit of bold innovation… a sophisticated visual identity and a commanding presence.

The N4 models command attention with their completely redesigned front fascia, where innovation meets elegance in a confident design. The new black grille, wider and more meticulously detailed, houses a distinctive light signature inspired by the DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE concept and the brand’s latest design: the N8. The light beam extends from the edges of the bumper, intersecting into light units that converge at the illuminated DS logo in the center, giving the N4 models a unique and striking appearance.

The 12mm-extended hood further enhances the sense of width, seamlessly covering the upper part of the grille. This grille is crafted from a fully dyed black material and coated with a highly durable finish for lasting protection against scratches and fading. All N4 models will feature this unique front design and striking light signature, regardless of the powertrain or equipment.

DS MATRIX LED VISION Headlights

The design is completed in the ÉTOILE version with DS MATRIX LED VISION headlights, which combine matrix lighting technology with directional lighting to achieve the best possible illumination quality with an ultra-elegant aesthetic. Thierry Metrouz, Design Director at DS Automobiles, explained: “In the N4 models, we combined the slim, vertical V-shaped signature inspired by the DS E-TENSE PERFORMANCE concept car with the illuminated horizontal line inspired by our flagship N8 model, which connects the illuminated front grille to the glowing DS logo. The result? A dramatic design that is instantly recognizable.”

Sporty Design and Precisely Sculpted Lines

With its harmonious dimensions of 4.40 meters in length, 1.87 meters in width, and 1.47 meters in height, the N4 commands attention with its dynamic yet elegant lines.

Its side profile combines fluidity and tension, showcasing its meticulously sculpted muscles and distinctive character. The concealed door handles blend seamlessly into the sculpted sides, reflecting the purity of the design and the elegance of the details.

With its large 720 mm wheels, the N4 commands attention and enhances its visual impact. Its body-to-wheel ratio is exceptional in the compact luxury hatchback segment, giving it a sporty look and efficient performance.

All engines come standard with 19-inch wheels, while 20-inch wheels are available exclusively on the plug-in hybrid version.

The N4 also stands out with its slim side lines and contrasting black “floating” roof, which enhances the design’s aerodynamics and extends to the rear for a touch of elegant dynamism.

A chrome strip accentuates the window design with a sophisticated style, precisely following the curves of the exterior. The taut, low roofline extends to the sloping rear glass, giving the N4 a sleek profile that enhances its aerodynamics.

At the rear, sculpted wings reveal a powerful and refined structure that combines subtle curves with sharp edges. This highlights the rear pillars, which are adorned with a glossy black trim bearing the DS Automobiles signature—a refined artistic touch that speaks of a world of exclusivity and precision.

DS designers have created a new lighting signature at the rear, where creativity meets technology. The full LED taillights are coated in Dark Chrome and feature laser-etched scale patterns that reflect light in a captivating visual style. These lights are connected by a dark, glossy strip that enhances the sense of width.

Above the model name, the new brand identity is displayed in the DS Automobiles lettering—a powerful signature that ensures the N4 stands out and is easily recognizable, even from a distance.

The N4: A car without compromise, 100% electric

From launch, the N4 will offer a full range of electric powertrains, making it the only hatchback in its class to offer such versatility. Three advanced technologies—self-charging hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and a fully electric version—give the N4 true freedom of choice without any compromises.

In this regard, Audrey Amar, Product Manager at DS Automobiles, commented: “We chose to meet the needs of all users without compromise with the 100% electric powertrain range. Regardless of the chosen powertrain, the N4 models will maintain the same outstanding dynamic performance and level of comfort.”

N4 E-TENSE: A Compromise-Free All-Electric Experience

The N4 E-TENSE represents a new step in DS’s transition to clean energy. Its all-electric motor combines a driving range of up to 450 km (WLTP cycle) with high performance, delivering up to 213 hp and 343 Nm of torque. Developed using industry-leading components, it offers a smooth, uncompromising electric driving experience.

The battery has a net capacity of 58.3 kWh and features a nickel-rich chemical composition to enhance efficiency while maintaining a compact size.

To achieve maximum comfort and thermal efficiency, a new heat pump system has been developed, and the cooling and heating components have been enlarged to meet customer expectations.

It also features three steering-controlled deceleration modes: D for low energy recovery, B for medium energy recovery, and B+ for enhanced energy recovery.

Aerodynamics enhance performance: a 10mm lower body height, along with hidden aerodynamic elements within the front grille, reduce air resistance and maximize efficiency.

The N4 E-TENSE model is equipped with an 11 kW onboard charger and can also receive fast charging up to 120 kW, allowing it to reach 20% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes, or regain a range of 100 km in just 11 minutes.

N4 PLUG-IN HYBRID: Electric range up to 81 km

The N4 PLUG-IN HYBRID represents the next generation of plug-in hybrid vehicles, offering a 30% increase in electric range compared to the previous generation DS 4 PHEV. It combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 180 hp with a 125 hp electric motor, integrated with a new eDCT7 dual-clutch automatic transmission for an ideal balance between performance and fuel consumption.

The combined output is 225 hp with 360 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than the previous generation.

This version comes with a 14.6 kWh battery, allowing for all-electric driving up to 81 km (according to the WLTP cycle) before switching to hybrid mode. A 3.7 kW onboard charger is standard, with a faster 7.4 kW charger available as an option.

The N4 Hybrid model delivers 145 hp.

This version features a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a 21 kW (28 hp) electric motor, integrated into a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The N4 Hybrid model allows for all-electric driving for up to 50% of city driving time, depending on road conditions and driving style, and recharges itself through braking and deceleration.

With a total torque of 230 Nm, this engine combines excellent performance with low emissions, starting at just 116 g/km of CO2, making it one of the most environmentally efficient.

Dynamic Serenity: French Expertise and Enhanced Technology

The N4 embodies the essence of French excellence, where every detail is meticulously crafted, elevating every journey to a level of refined luxury. Inside, practicality meets elegance in an immersive experience. Design touches are highlighted by the “Clous de Paris” motif, inspired by fine watchmaking.

The cabin features a high-resolution 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, inspired by the N8, for enhanced readability and a sense of security. A second 10-inch screen is also available for the DS IRIS SYSTEM infotainment system.

Thomas Boveri, Head of Interior Design at DS Automobile, explains: “The N4’s cabin has been meticulously redesigned for a cleaner look, similar to what we did with the N8. The instrument cluster has been enlarged to 10.25 inches, enhancing information clarity and accessibility. Functions have been integrated into the center screen for easier control. The upholstery remains distinctive, with luxurious fabric/canvas combinations in the PALLAS trim, and materials such as Criollo Brown Nappa leather and black Alcantara with Light Gold accents in the ÉTOILE trim.”

The DS AIR ventilation system continues to offer a “no visible vents” experience, with a slim, harmonious design that conceals the wings behind elegant fascias, enhancing the feeling of harmony and comfort.

The cabin is further enhanced by high-quality PALLAS fabric or ÉTOILE Alcantara upholstery covering the dashboard, doors, and center console. The seats are upholstered in Criollo brown Nappa leather with a watchband-like stitching pattern, ash brown wood inlays, and generous areas of premium natural leather, along with exclusive DS Pearl Stitching.

Customizable indirect side lighting adds to the cabin’s warm ambiance, while the optional FOCAL ELECTRA® sound system elevates the listening experience with 14 speakers and 690 watts of power. Double-glazed front and rear side windows minimize outside noise and ensure exceptional sound clarity.

Perfect Spaciousness and First-Class Comfort
With a wheelbase of 2.67 meters and a width of 1.87 meters (with mirrors folded), the DS N°4 offers a generous interior space, as well as ample storage. Each passenger enjoys ample elbow and legroom, as well as comfortable headroom in both the front and rear rows. The front seats, available with heating, cooling, and massage functions in the leather-trimmed versions, are uniquely designed. Made of high-density foam, their contoured design provides comfortable support, ensuring an ideal balance of stability and ultimate comfort.

The luggage compartment offers 430 liters in the Hybrid version, 360 liters in the Plug-in Hybrid, and 390 liters in the all-electric E-TENSE. Designed for practicality, the trunk features a low loading rim for ease of use and can be opened via a hands-free power tailgate.

The DS N°4 is built on the modular EMP2 platform, giving it exceptional adaptability to various drivetrains while maintaining optimal road stability and refined comfort. This advanced architecture incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as adhesive welding – a process combining nearly 34 meters of adhesive with multiple welding points – ensuring exceptional structural rigidity, precision, and efficiency.

The suspension and steering systems contribute to an exceptional driving experience. The chassis was meticulously developed to deliver unparalleled handling, embodying the expertise of DS Automobiles. Thanks to the brand’s engineers, a perfect balance of comfort and dynamism has been achieved. Like all versions, the all-electric E-TENSE offers smooth, agile, and enjoyable handling, making every journey an experience where road control blends seamlessly with elegance.

Intelligent Driving That Meets Driver Expectations

Thanks to DS DRIVE ASSIST 2.0, the DS N°4 offers a Level 2 semi-autonomous driving experience. It assists with semi-autonomous lane changes, overtaking maneuvers, and provides intelligent speed recommendations based on traffic sign readings. The system includes sensors that monitor everything happening inside and around the vehicle to ensure a smooth and safe driving experience.

In addition to this system, the car features Driver Attention Monitoring (DAA4), which continuously analyzes the driver’s concentration level and mental state using an infrared camera mounted on the A-pillar.

DS MATRIX LED VISION headlights enhance driving comfort with three LED units that adapt to driving conditions, steering wheel angle, speed, and weather conditions through five preset modes: City, Country Roads, Highways, Bad Weather, and Fog. These headlights allow for continuous high-beam driving without dazzling other drivers, with a beam range of approximately 300 meters.

The car also features the DS Extended Head-Up Display, an innovative technology that projects essential information directly into the driver’s field of vision. It displays data as if it were “suspended” four meters in front of the windshield on a 21-inch virtual screen. This technology enhances the visual experience and represents a step towards augmented reality, allowing drivers to view speed, assistance systems, navigation, alerts, and entertainment content without taking their eyes off the road.

Integrated Digital System

This experience is part of an integrated digital system centered around the DS IRIS SYSTEM, an intelligent infotainment system with a smartphone-like interface. Its 10-inch central screen features customizable widgets, providing quick and seamless access to various functions. Driver preferences are automatically saved, ensuring a personalized driving experience every time.

Advanced and Continuous Connectivity

The N4’s infotainment system is powered by SoundHound AI technology and supported by the ChatGPT API. Since March 2024, DS Automobiles has been the first car manufacturer in the world to integrate ChatGPT as a standard feature across all models equipped with the DS IRIS SYSTEM in countries where voice recognition is available. Interaction can be easily initiated by saying “OK IRIS” to start a natural and seamless conversation with the car, making it a true travel companion.

The DS N4 is also available with the CONNECT ONE PACK, which provides a range of connectivity services for 10 years, including a digital service history, e-Coaching, and regular remote updates, enhancing the driving experience and ensuring safety and peace of mind.

Starting at the end of 2024, the DS e-Coaching function will be activated in the Plug-in Hybrid and E-Tense electric models. This tool provides tips for improving driving efficiency via a pop-up window that appears when the engine is started, titled “Tip of the Day” (and can be disabled).

The CONNECT PLUS PACK, included in the car’s price for 3 years (depending on the equipment), adds further services such as intelligent mobility, voice recognition powered by ChatGPT, and a range of other functions (remote control, remote door locking/unlocking, intelligent alerts, intelligent trip maps, and more) via the My DS app.

Dedicated Connectivity Services for the E-TENSE Electric Version

The DS N4 E-TENSE electric version includes, at launch, a range of services designed to enhance the user experience and simplify charging and maintenance management:

• EV Routing: Included in the three-year CONNECT PLUS package, this feature enables long-distance charging station planning, calculating arrival time and battery level in real time based on traffic conditions, charging speed, and consumption.

• e-Routes App: This app calculates the total journey time before setting off, including stops, and suggests alternative routes during the journey. It is displayed on the vehicle’s screen via the Wireless Mirror Screen app.

• Battery Pre-Prep: This feature reduces charging time in cold weather by pre-warming the battery before reaching the charging point. It can be activated via the app, automatically through the EV Routing system, or manually via the screen.

• • e-Remote: Allows monitoring of battery charge status, cabin climate control, and activation of the 80% charge-off feature (to protect battery cells). It can be activated via the app or the center display.

• V2L (Vehicle to Load) function: Enables connecting the vehicle to an external power source via a dedicated adapter, adding a new practical dimension to the use of stored energy.

Number 4 “PALLAS” and “ÉTOILE”:

The “PALLAS” and “ÉTOILE” trims are available with specific equipment levels, packages, and options that can be customized to meet even the most demanding requirements.

The PALLAS: Elegance and Sophistication

The PALLAS features a refined interior upholstered in Diamond Tungsten and DS Black Canvas with intricate stitching. The dashboard and door panels are finished in Volcanic Black with a “tortoiseshell” effect, complemented by Belem Bronze accents that enhance the overall design.
